Dear Parents, Players, and Supporters,

I appreciate you expressing interests in the Midwest Trailblazers Youth Program.   The Trailblazers comprises over 200 young men and women throughout the Omaha Metro area.   This is the crystallization of a dream.   Growing up in Omaha, I participated in a similar program called the Kappa League.   I directly attribute my success on and off the court to the Kappa League program.   It is now my turn to throw the rope back.   Thank you for being a part of the realization of my dream.   

After eighteen years of developing youth, we developed a new vision and plan to better meet the complex needs of participating youth.   This Strategic Plan— Vision 20/12—represents the Trailblazers’ efforts:

·          To redefine the role of sports in youth development; and

·          To develop and implement ONE BLAZER.

The ONE BLAZER concept exemplifies that we are not individuals playing on separate teams with individual coaches.   Instead, we are ONE organization focused on educating, developing, training, and nurturing tomorrow’s leaders.   ONE BLAZER means we are one Blazer Family providing a complete wrap around support system for our participants and their families.   In order to accomplish this plan, every team, coach, player, parent, and stakeholder will focus on our core principles:

1.        Positive Relationships Over Time— Relationships  

2.        The Importance of the Individual & Community— Relevance

3.        Character is defined as Values in Action— Rigor

Our comprehensive approach to youth development addresses the barriers inner-city youth typically face by providing concrete opportunities to build the skills and confidence needed to break the cycle of poverty, and create a cycle of success.   Although we will continue to expand our reach over the years, we will always be sure to first maintain the integrity of its programs and its deep connection with the children we serve.   We are dedicated to our founding principles and focused on the priorities of identity, creditability, visibility, program services, and leaderships/organizational structure for our long-term success.  

Again, thank you for helping the Trailblazers provide youth with opportunities to play, grow, and realize their dreams.
